Instructional Period:  Along with other students in the class, students will learn moves and strategies from their chess teacher then work on them in a class setting.  Students will learn defensive and offensive moves to improve their playing.  Students are encouraged to ask questions and suggest ideas that relate to the lesson.

Puzzle, Video or Worksheet Period:  Follow a path to improving by watching videos of chess masters, including Garry Kasparov, solving puzzles, playing and testing your skills while earning achievements and sharing with your friends.

Practical Period:  After learning a variety of openings, tactics, strategies, checkmates and endgames students try them with their friends.  The teacher generally pairs up students with other students who will challenge them to become better players.  Students learn to show good sportsmanship and to possess a learning attitude whether the student wins or loses.
