Sewing (and Other Crafts) for Kids!

Sewing and Other Crafts for Kids! K-5th Grade - includes Sewing, Beading, Weaving and Knitting.

Sewing

Kids can sew too!  Young crafters will quickly be sewing up colorful pillows, potholders, dolls, blankets, and more. Learn the basics and fun of sewing and crafting each week then show what you've made for our end of semester recital.

Students learn how to make smart fabric choices, and use basic sewing tools. Kid-friendly projects include clothes to bags to accessories and more with step-by-step instructions for the creation of each. As the students improve more complex projects occur.

These kid-tested projects give plenty of encouragement and helpful tips, little sewers develop their skills while sparking a passion that will last a lifetime!

Beading

A collection of simple and attractive beading projects for youngsters.  Beaders choose from 60 practical and decorative items, including bracelets, chokers, pillows, a lampshade, flip-flops, a jewelry box and more. Students will learn how to string beads, attach clasps, and tie knots. Hours of creative pleasure for kids they'll be proud of!

Weaving

Students choose from 15 fun, colorful projects -- including friendship bracelets, a rag doll, a fashionable chenille scarf, magic carpets, funky hand-woven shoelaces and more!  Students weave using everything from their hands to cardboard to an easy-to-create loom made from simple plumbing supplies. Students learn about weaving around the world and stories of famous characters such as Penelope, the clever weaver from The Iliad and The Odyssey.

Knitting

With 15 easy projects to choose from beginners learn the fundamentals of knitting including knitting tools, finger-knitting, and basic stitches such as knit, purl, mattress, overcast, embroidery, and stockinette.

Kids get to keep and use whatever they make: choices include bouncy bean bags, a rolled-edge sweater, bookmarks, backpacks, bracelets and more.
